Towards the end of 2020, the Spirit of Israel paid tribute to its dedicated volunteers and partners at our annual event. The event was an opportunity to thank and honor those who have worked behind the scenes around the clock – these are the real heroes who are the key to our success and make the Spirit of Israel what it is today.
The Spirit of Israel’s volunteers work tirelessly with teens at the Youth Villages, with the elderly, with families in distress, with new immigrants and lone soldiers, making every effort to provide support and assistance. Their strength, fortitude and dedication make them the ultimate role models.
As Ilan Linhard, Chair of the Spirit of Israel’s Volunteer body put it so eloquently:
“Your willingness to give combined with the longing of our young friends to receive is a beautiful thing to observe. There is a certain something in that connection, that longing, that contact you create which brings to mind the hands reaching towards one another in Michelangelo’s famous Sistine Chapel fresco.
Each connection of souls generates a magnificent journey – a journey of two people that is so much larger than the sum of its parts.”
